The staff at Utrecht's University Department for New Media thought of the important titles ranging from books, music, movies and games a student of new media should be familiar with. The discussion is not finished yet, and the canon of new media remains to be written, but there is a great collection of titles already. We expect from our students to look outside the box of teaching and browse culture for those works which are contributing to the shape of technology and the reflection on it.
